Are we women in our 40’s and 50’s doomed to falling apart, getting fat and feeling unfulfilled and forgotten?
Does being 40 and 50 years old mean FALLING APART, FAT, UNFULFILLED and FORGOTTEN?
Or can we reclaim our bodies, mind and our lives?
I have been meeting so many women who are desperate to get back to feeling “like themselves” again.
Maybe they have gained 30, 40, 50+ pounds.
They have upper back pain often due to poor posture and muscle wasting.
Often they begin an exercise program only to get hurt or injured or worse…..they are pushed by a trainer to work harder and do more than their bodies can handle which makes them feel completely defeated.
Maybe they have lost some weight but it’s difficult to keep off and when they regain the weight they lost they often gain an additional 5 pounds.
They feel anxious, unusually stressed and short fused. Their patience is nill and their outlook on life is often bleak and dismal.
They feel like they are disappearing and often go unnoticed by others.
And feeling sexy again? It seems like it was ages ago that they felt alluring and attractive.
How is it that we cannot bear to look at ourselves in the mirror?
WHY? Because we have veered so far away from who we once were and the path to get back to the woman we once knew seems impossible.
After all, many of these women I have spoken with have gone to see doctors hoping they can help them get back to “feeling normal” but all too often they are told to:
And these women cry and mourn who they once were, my heart breaks for them.
They tell me how they feel and they start to choke up and tears swell up in their eyes.
They walk around with a smile on their face but inside they are broken and discouraged and very sad.
I can tell you with 100% certainty that THIS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THE CASE and that there is a road back.
I am not going to tell you that there is a magic pill, potion or quick fix.
I am not going to sugar coat the fact that you will need to make some changes …… but I can promise you that they will lead to a bright life filled with vitality.
And I will tell you that once you get back to YOU ….. you will still have to work to maintain it.
I am now 45 years old…..and will turn 46 next October. My ability to maintain my 5’4” 128 pound frame takes DAILY WORK and it takes close attention to what I put in my mouth.
I can gain 3-5 pounds in a heartbeat if I am not careful.
My friends who knew me when we were kids know that I never watched what I ate – and I was always skinny. But my hormones today are not the same as they were when I was 20 so I must operate differently if I want to maintain myself.
I have a studio filled with about 160 women who have started from the very beginning and many of them felt just like the women I described above.
When I explain to these women why they feel this way and what they can do about it……and yes…..you can reclaim yourself with consistency and effort – I can see hope begin to return.
One women described herself like Humpty Dumpty who fell off the wall broken into many pieces and slowly we put her back together again.
They started with baby steps and slowly made changes while training to build physical strength which then translated into MENTAL STRENGTH and SELF CONFIDENCE.
They noticed that in the first 4 weeks their energy was improving.
They began to sleep better.
Many of them took control of their health even further and thorough lab panels and hormone testing so they can have better control over their inner physiological balance.
These women began to feel “like themselves" once again. Their improvements are even better as their days are filled with energy, deep sleep, morning vibrancy, calmer moods, less stress and a positive outlook.
I am here to tell you that you are not stuck.
I can tell you that you CAN help yourself and have more control over what is going on with your body.
I can tell you that you can learn to give your body what it needs and you can find balance again.
And you can……..get back to yourself.
This is what these women did:
1. Learned to eat for their current hormonal state.
2. Completed a full lab panel with their doctor including testing hormones, full thyroid testing and additional testing for inflammatory markers and addressed any imbalances.
3. Began addressing any muscle imbalances and weaknesses – worked on strengthening them so they can begin to weight train and exercise WITHOUT GETTING HURT.
4. Resolved any issues interrupting with quality sleep (sleep issues can be due to blood sugar imbalances, deficiency in melatonin, other hormone imbalances).
5. Began a supplement regime that addressed any current deficiencies.
6. Lastly……they began to FOCUS ON THEMSELVES and became SELF-FULL!!!!!
**Being SELF-FULL is not the same as being SELFISH. But they are giving more to themselves than they ever have before……and it is they are LOVING IT.
Life can be bright again.
You can feel energetic and VIBRANT.
You can look in the mirror and feel PROUD again.
You can wake up in the morning with abundance and positivity.
You can begin to reclaim the woman you once knew.
